Decades had passed, but the memories of a magical castle still held Rieka Lestari firmly in their clutches.

It was hard not to dwell on the past when the witch could feel the power that ran through her veins; or when she could see the chain that hung around her neck; or when she caught a glimpse of the tattoo that was like a brand upon her arm.
Like all things however, one must learn to move on from the past, and Rieka manages to do just that with the help of someone she had never imagined she would meet.
But between the ever-growing threat of Torchwood, her work with UNIT, and her own personal research, there were very few moments where the red head could reflect on where her rather long life would lead.
And even fewer moments to question the feelings she held for a certain Time Lord.
