Rose has been kidnapped and the Doctor is trapped under the sea in a submarine thousands of miles away. He has to try and solve the problem at hand before he can get to her, and Rose, meanwhile, is dealing with her own problems.
It felt like a prickle in his head. A brush of pain, small and muted by their mental blocks, but enough for him to know that something had happened. He dropped his scanner on the ground and nudged his mind, but he was met with resistance, the kind that told him she was asleep.
He could still feel her presence, that dim roar that was Rose burning at the back of his mind. His head wasn’t throbbing or feeling like it was getting ready to explode, but that prickle was alarming him, and he took a deep breath so he could recenter himself.
She was hurting.
