The Great Mysterio

by

"She did want to be indifferent, to be callous as usual. But as she stares at the carefully rendered painting of this Mr Mysterio, done up to look like those vintage magician posters, she can’t help but feel something strange begin to grow inside her. Something within which seems to know this man. Something which feels like it shouldn’t be inside of her, like a foreign body, or a tapeworm. But it knows him. She can’t place it, it can’t be true, yet deep and deeper still in her entrails blooms a horrible feeling of familiarity and it sits there, unwinding like a spool of barbed wire. "
