She just needed a way to blow off some steam after these sorts of days. And she couldn’t couldn’t do this with Yaz - not with the heart eyes she was always giving her at every opportunity. It would hurt her ultimately. And she cared about her too much to do that to her.
Admittedly, she didn’t know Dan well enough to care about him in the same way yet, but he wasn’t obviously half in love with her, which was the important part. What they had here was good - casual. Uncomplicated. It was just what the Doctor needed. And Dan… well, he was a typical human male; he certainly seemed content with their arrangement.
