And the Baby

by

COMPLETE

Rose is in labor, and she and the Doctor live through the most surreal twenty-one hours, forty-three minutes and eleven seconds of their lives.

“Nappies,” he said, and she looked at him with a small smile.

“What?” she asked, and he began to pace around the infirmary, slowly unraveling, the weight of what they just went through forgotten about and replaced with something new.

“We didn’t buy any,” he began. “Rose, we don’t have a single nappy on board this damn ship. She is going to need nappies! Lots of them! We don’t have bottles! Or formula -”

“I’m going to breastfeed -” Rose interrupted, but the Doctor didn’t hear her, he just kept rambling and pacing and, if Rose dared to say it, freaking out a little.

“I never baby-proofed the toilets!” he shouted, and she tried not to laugh at him. “She needs more toys. She deserves so many more toys. Why didn’t we buy her more toys? What kind of father am I? And we only have one blanket! Just the one from Trinity….That won’t be warm enough, Rose.”
