During those years in the Vault, Missy does her best to behave. Honestly. It’s just that spending all that time cooped up with no one but the Doctor and the egg for company is so dreadfully boring. So what if she slips out every now and then? She rarely hurts anyone. She doesn’t enact any of the elaborate schemes she’s painstakingly planned in the Vault. She just needs fresh air, and she needs to remind herself that there are still other people in the universe beyond her, the Doctor, and the egg.
On one such occasion, she runs into John Frobisher.
