The woman on the docks was tall, taller than most of the locals, though this might have been due to the enormous, shiny black heels she was waltzing around on like she was on a pair of stilts. She was fair too, unlike the locals – all tan and dark hair with thin eyes and broad noses. Her hair was pouring out from under a floppy brimmed hat that was a gorgeous crème with a wide black ribbon placed elegantly as a trim.
“Is there anything else I can do for you, ma’am?” Kaylee asked slowly, prodding the issue she could almost feel. The woman seemed to gather her courage, taking a deep breath and giving Kaylee what Kaylee could only assume was her most winning smile.
“My name is Dr. Song and I’d like to buy passage aboard your ship.”
