She offers him a smile—soft and genuine. It had always been rare to get her to make that face, but here she is, doing it willingly. It must be because she knows he’s dying, he supposes. He doubts she’d be soft with him otherwise.

Missy nods, already knowing the question. “Testimony. But that doesn’t mean I’m not real.”
