When he looks back, the Doctor will wonder whether or not he should regret. He will try to decide whether all the good times make up for the violence, the pain. He will ponder for a while, then close his eyes, and ask whichever higher power that is or isn't listening when it will all be over. Because he just wants it to be over.
But for now he will take Bruce Banner to the moon and show him the stars. Then he will stretch out his hand to the timid looking man and say with a smile. 'All of time and space? Where do you want to go next?'
And Rory will glance over at Amy and ask whether they should stop the Doctor before he falls. She will say no, because the Doctor is destined to fall regardless of their intervention, and if he is going to fall, let it be in love.
