Saccharine Smiles

by

“Evenings in your cute little apartment with your friends are so much more you.” Oliver dragged a finger across her jaw, sketching the outline of her lips. Jo froze in her seat, unable to look away, warmth blooming on her skin. He laughed softly. “But I’m giving you permission to live a little, darling. You and me. One more night. What do you say?”
“I-I don’t know,” she stuttered. Old feelings, lingering attachment, dying fireworks… everything was being reignited inside her in a churning whirlpool. Oh, he knew what he was doing. Quickening her lungs. Making her heart palpitate with light, butterfly-like beats that dizzied her.
One more night. Would that be so bad? One more night in the arms of her ex. One more night before everything went wrong for him—if she played the game right.
This documentary was her revenge. A perfect, poisoned revenge. Designed to bring his downfall.
One more night didn’t sound that bad at all.
