variations on a theme

by

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Gallifrey falls, again. Her best friend becomes her best enemy, again. Sooner or later, she's going to sit down in an alleyway and tell the bright young woman she's travelling with that they can't go to her home planet because it was destroyed, again. Maybe this timeline isn't a line at all, maybe it's more of a Möbius strip and she's stuck in a spiral, repeating the same things again and again. Grief and loss, a chance at redemption, and having it all smashed to tiny little pieces just once she thinks she's found a way out. Variations on a theme.
