With the TARDIS out of action, the newly regenerated Doctor spends Christmas and New Year with the Tyler extended family. Normally he’d be itching to travel to new places, but Rose teaches him a valuable lesson about tradition and honour whilst she learns the importance of moving on.

I managed to incorporate all six prompts, as follows: Ten/Rose romance with or without plot; Doctor in a 'fish out of water' situation; Chaucer (before he wrote the Canterbury Tales); Rose knocked unconscious; staging an argument to distract or confuse; New Year's Eve in Times Square.
