Ever since her wife passed away, Jo has tried her best to stay optimistic, but most of it was for the sake of her daughter. When Melody was old enough to ask questions, Jo began to tell her tales about outer space to distract both of them from the loss: how she had fought against an alien race made of metal that wanted to exterminate everything in its way; how angel statues made of stone actually moved when they weren't looking, and this beautiful planet called Akhaten where there the residents were constantly singing.
Things are better now, two and a half years later, and it never crossed Jo's mind she would find love again. That is, until a certain police officer walks into her life.
